Before the Association came together as an initative by Bassetlaw District Council a leaflet, called the Mayflower Trail, was developed by the Council to describe, and link together, the local places of historic interest related to the principal figures in the Pilgrims Fathers journey.
The summary of the trail starts at Babworth Church where the religious separatism of the Pilgrim Fathers originated in the area, led by the parson Richard Clyfton.
It includes Austerfield Church where William Bradford, Governor of the Plymouth colony from 1621 to 1656, was baptised and the Manor House at Scrooby, the home of William Brewster, who, as the presiding elder in the Plymouth Colony led the development of what is now known as the Thanksgiving celebration in the US.
Gainsborough Old Hall, where John Smyth held regular meetings, is towards the end of the trail.
Pilgrim Tours provide guided tours of the Mayflower Trail.
